About Us

Preservation Breeder Established 2009

Since 2009, we have been showing and raising Scottish Fold kittens & British Shorthair kittens. We are preservation breeders, selecting the best physical characteristics and temperaments that complement each other. This ensures that their offspring will grow into classic representatives of their breed.

Long before showing cats, we lived on a small farm where we raised dairy goats and sheep. When we moved into town with our four children, we entered the world of rabbits, 4-H, and ARBA.

Because of our passion for animals, we became known as the family who took in strays, especially orphaned kittens. It was through this experience that we were led to the world of cats, where we have put our passion ever since.

Happy, Healthy Bloodlines

We are members of both major cat registries in the USA – The Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA). Our cats have competed in both organizations, where our foundation cats were chosen based on how they performed on the show table.

This was done by being rigorously and objectively compared to other top cats in their breed by judges who specialized in the breeds. Once championed, they were thoroughly health checked and tested to ensure optimum healthy genetics would be passed down to their Scottish Fold kittens & British Shorthair kittens.

Why We Chose Our Breeds

We chose British Shorthair kittens and Scottish Fold kittens because they share a great deal of history and can be cross-bred with each other. Also, they are old-world farm cats with few health issues. Both breeds are sturdy in build, solid in temperament, and “kick-back” in personality.

Also, they can live in most any type of household, from a quiet small household to a very noisy large one. They are also independent enough to entertain themselves or curl up and relax instead of demanding attention. They also get along great with other pets and children as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are located in the San Francisco Bay Area of California
1st Step: An adoption application is filled out before adoption. Once accepted, adoption can proceed. It is recommended to complete it in advance, should you be on a waiting list. Pre-screened applicants get priority on waiting lists. 2nd Step: Once a kitten is available for adoption, a non-refundable deposit is given to reserve cat/kitten until they reach 10-16 weeks of age, dependent on kitten’s physical and emotional development. 12 weeks is the “normal” age whereas kittens naturally wean themselves from their mother. 3rd Step: A written contract is then signed by both parties. 4th Step: Bringing cat/kitten home to a house which is prepared in advance for a new family member
Upon adoption, all cats/kittens bred by us, will come with a health guarantee. Upon request, A “Health Certificate” can be provided from our vet. Details provided in written contract.
VACCINES: All our cats/kittens are vaccinated at age appropriate times with core vaccines. PARASITES: Also, we keep all cats/kittens on a preventative, routine parasitic treatment for fleas and worms. NEUTERING/SPAYING: we do not believe in juvenile neutering/spaying. We believe kittens need to remain intact, allowing their hormones to fully assist in their physical development until they reach an age of maturity before altering them. LITTERBOX TRAINING: Cats and kittens are all litterbox trained before leaving our home. It is very important to use the same litter as we do. Should you choose to use a different product, you must slowly change litter type by adding new litter to current litter over a few days until new litter has been accepted. Changing litter abruptly can often result in a cat/kitten relieving themselves elsewhere.

As a general rule, we do not ship. We would like our kittens picked up personally.  On a rare occasion, we have shipped young adult cats who can manage the stress of shipping.  However, a shipped cat would not come with a health guarantee, beyond a vet health check certificate, should the stress cause any illness.   All cats/kittens bred by SB Cattery come with a limited genetic health guarantee.
